The Cure for Anything #2: Tears

The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea. Isak Dinesen

Continuing on with the theme of self reflection, the second part of my favorite quote…

Tears – This is the one I associate with passion and purpose. During the long hours of studying, the achy nights after work, the many missed fun opportunities, there were a lot of tears. Struggle and hard work don’t often come without occasional water works. It’s very easy to get overwhelmed, or caught up in the moment and think ‘Is this all worth it?’ It’s normal, and it’s understandable. Just make sure you have chosen a path where you can always answer that question with a ‘Yes. Yes it IS worth it!’ Because if you do, then after the tears of frustration eventually come the tears of joy. When you pass that class you’ve struggled in all semester. When you finally hear your name called and walk across the big stage in front of your loved ones to get your diploma. When your research actually goes right for once! When a you see the light of comprehension shine on the face of a child you are teaching. With passion comes tears.
